At MIDAS Users Group, we've done our best to create a Web site that anticipates and satisfies our members' needs. With that goal in mind, we've compiled a list of frequently asked questions. [Q]  What does it cost to join the MIDAS Userís Group
[A] Membership is free, but donations of gold bullion are accepted to help defray expenses.

[Q]  When running the Trend Analysis part of Thermal Analysis, it takes a long time to initialize the Database.
[A] The developers promise a major speed up in the next revision.  Till then you may want to use the custom database function (under database utilities to create small databases from your master.

[Q] Does MIDAS work if we donít purchase Load Weigh?
[A] Yes it does, however it loses much of itís power with out the dipper weights.  If the issue is $, get Load Weigh and the MIDAS starter package.  Youíll soon be able to convince the management to upgrade to a full MIDAS package.

[Q]Can we get MIDAS on a P&H Shovel?
[A]Yes, the MIDAS package can be adapted for almost any kind of machine

[Q] Is MIDAS an abbreviation for something
[A] Machine Information, Diagnostic, Analysis System. Itís also supposed to give the idea that your data can turn to gold.

[Q] At certain times of the day, I would like to decrease the bandwidth in order to speed up certain data transfers in the pit. Can this be done without losing log data or shutting off MIDAS
[A] Yes, go to the Server Screen from any local MIDAS desktop. Select Transmission Speed and select a slower transmission speed.  This will decrease bandwidth as compared to the default 1 second transmission rate.  Donít forget to put it back when done.  The logging rate on the shovel will not be affected.
